Inspired by a quiet moment in Japan, painted in watercolour and ink. At the centre of the piece, Mount Fuji and a 7-Eleven sit side by side, representing two very different sides of the Japanese experience. 7-Eleven represents the movement and energy of everyday life, a place that is constantly passing through people’s journeys. Mount Fuji stands in complete contrast, still and almost meditative, existing beyond that movement. Together, the two become a reflection of the balance between the busy and the quiet, the fleeting and the permanent.
